what i learned yesterday…
The outsourcing of interface design and web development to India has resulted in an enormous disconnect between how Americans want to interact and utilize a website (whether they know it or not) and how India is designing them. Granted we’re talking specifically about large organizations and corporations (particularly ecommerce), but the outsourcing organization should still mock-up design in-house and obtain assurances from their Indian partners to design with the American customer in mind. Simple, effective, and elegant design wins time after time in any area where style matters.
